In 2021, I was in dire need of some help getting my house painted. This was a BIG job for a small tongue and groove house built in Hanapepe Heights in the early 50’s. Based on a good recommendation from Sandy Poehnelt of the Right Slice in Kalaheo, I was introduced to Chara Hoe and her partner Nadine Naumu. Despite the size of the job and the extent of the prep work that was needed, Chara not only offered sound and caring advice, she agreed to help me take on the job. This duo methodically and skillfully chipped away (yes, bit of a pun there) at the daunting and seemingly endless task of prepping the outside of my home. They cared for the job as if they were working on their own house. She underpromised, over delivered and I now have a beautifully painted and protected home. I am beyond grateful and impressed with the work Chara and Nadine did for my wife and me. I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to recommend this contractor for most any home build, restore, or repair job.

It was very nerve-racking to build a house in a state you’re not living in but Chara always kept us informed from the beginning it was amazing to work with her.

Our personal experience working with Chara Hoe was when we had some construction challenges with our house it was built on the side of a cliff which required a lot of support beams and cement pillars at first it was suggested to us that we do these with cinderblock but it was Chara’s idea to build our house with cement pillars which resulted in a wonderful very supported structure Chara handled the situation like a pro and we were very pleased with the outcome of our home. Over the years we’ve remained friends with Chara and are very supportive of her construction business anytime we needed anything done at our property we do not hesitate to call Chara to handle any task we have from remodeling a deck to adding onto our house we are extremely satisfied with our house and enjoy everything that she has done for us. Several of our friends are interested in building on the island of Kauai our first suggestion is that they go with Chara Hoe she is responsible and knowledgeable in the regulations of the island of Kauai she has very good subcontractors and we were always pleased with the outcome we will not hesitate in the future to use her company and are very proud that she is the only woman owned general contracting business on Kauai.
